Microsoft Silverlight is a web browser plugin for creating rich and visually attractive web applications. It enables fast, cost-effective delivery of different Internet applications such as animation, vector graphics, audio and video of high quality. It also provides a way to create hight-interactive GUIs for web applications, based on WPF and .NET. It is compatible with all major browsers, including Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer used on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.

Silverlight 4.0

The new version of Silverlight runtime was released on April 15, 2010. This runtime has many new features and improvements, such as performance optimizations, official support for Google Chrome, printing, webcam and microphone support and more (you can find all the details in this article).

Please note that Silverlight 4.0 Tools cannot be installed in Visual Studio 2008, so Silverlight 4.0 development support on Visual Studio 2008 is limited.

Silverlight 3.0

Delphi Prism offers full support for Silverlight 3.0. Since Visual Studio 2008 does not support multi-targeting for Silverlight, this support replaces the exiting support for Silverlight 2.0 that previous releases provided, and only Silverlight versions 3.0 and 4.0 are currently supported.

See Recommended Downloads.

Silverlight 2.0

The Delphi Prism May 2009 release (3.0.19) supported the creation of Silverlight 2.0 applications, but there were known limitations:

From August 2009 onwards, Delphi Prism does not support Silverlight 2.0.
